Eastie and Westie Joy-Vernon

This stone shelter house is in the foothills of Sandia Mountain near the La Luz Trail. The hike is a strenuous challenge through four life zones, that climbs from 7,080 feet to 10,280 in just under eight miles. Joy-Vernon

Driving on Hwy. 60 on our return to the White Mountains, we see elk, deer, bear & antelope. This wide open area between Socorro & Magdalena often affords us a view of at least one herd of antelope. There are 9 in this photo, but the actual herd was larger. Joy-Vernon
