A female Black-Headed Grosbeak on the pokers this week. Joy-Vernon

In this photo her real baby is nursing. She added her orange dragon baby to her litter. Joy-Vernon

Two days old & I am cracking up when I see identical body language. We have named Eastie's puppy, Darci. It doesn't seem to bother her that her one real "baby" looks like a white rat...but when she has had two previous faux litters consisting of pea-green & orange plastic dragons, stuffed squirrels etc. of course she loves her baby that looks like a white rat! Joy-Vernon

Both mother and baby sound asleep on the 2nd day next to a mirror...Note squirrel "baby" on the right. Joy-Vernon

2nd day...Darci is a roamer. After she has a fat tummy, off she goes! She had crawled over to Rick's arm & went to sleep when I took this photo. Joy-Vernon

Another photo of mother & daughter's identical body language. Joy-Vernon

View from "Joy's Bird Room" (where I often watch birds) of the White Mountains at twilight with snapdragons and geraniums in the window box. June 15, 2010 Joy-Vernon

With all the attention to the new puppy, I spent some "quality time" with Uncle Westie the second day, June 12th. Both he and the new daddy, Darby, have been as good as they could be about the new addition to their "family/pack". Joy-Vernon

My "one on one" time with Westie...such gorgeous, perfect weather! (Rick's vegetable garden in the background). June 13, 2010 Joy-Vernon
