Prairie dogs have been exterminated because of the perceived competition with grazing cattle and bison for grasses. New studies indicate that prairie dogs do not drastically affect the amount of vegetation available for cattle. Joy-Vernon |

Male Grosbeak today, June 9, 2010. The Humming Birds and the Orioles seem to be going after the nectar in the Red Hot Pokers. I am watching the Grosbeaks tear away at the yellow part of the pokers, as if they are eating it! Joy-Vernon |
