This one of Rick's squashes! I took this photo this week, the same day as I took the squash flower picture. Rick wants to see how large this Hubbard squash gets. Last year we donated on to Love's Kitchen. I hope anyone with excess vegetables on the mountain will do the same...donate to Love's Kitchen...help feed the needy & homeless. Joy-Vernon

This is the height of our Hummingbird Season. They are so fascinating... we all hate to see them fly south, but everything has its season. Joy-Vernon

After a coyote jumped our fence and attacked our dogs, Rick moved 10 cords of wood (that he had stacked next to our fence) away from the fence, (with a cast on his wrist)! We believe the wood pile not only gave easy access to our fenced in yard, but the coyote was coming to the wood pile for pack rats. Joy-Vernon

Morning Glories & wild yellow flowers. This is a photo BEFORE the wood pile was moved! Joy-Vernon

Farmer Rick of Vernon, in his vegetable garden with just some of the day's "Harvest". September 6, 2010 Joy-Vernon

Turban squash, tomatoes, butternut squash, zucchini, yellow crook neck squash, potatoes and I even picked some blackberries from our bushes...from Farmer Rick's "Victory Garden" in Vernon. 9-6-10 Joy-Vernon

"Two Birds in a Bush" or two hummers sitting on the Sunflower branches in this photo I took today, 9-6-10 Joy-Vernon

While "Farmer Rick" was working in his gardens, I, the self proclaimed, "Bird Lady of Vernon", was taking photos of birds. 9-6-10 Joy-Vernon
