In keeping with my theme of our "Yellow Flower Season", I stopped by Woodland Lake on Aug. 27, 2010 & got some enchanting photos of this little guy to the left in the water. I watched it dive & stay under the water for long periods of time. I am not sure what he/she is. Some sort of Grebe...Maybe a Pied-billed Grebe, although I don't really know for sure. Joy-Vernon

Beside our drive way ...all wild flowers! Joy-Vernon

Hummingbirds will feed 5 to 8 times every hour for 30 to 60 seconds at a time. The large portion of a hummingbirds diet is sugar which they get from flower nectar and tree sap. Hummingbirds also eat insects and pollen to get protein to build muscle. Joy-Vernon

A wild Sunflower, along with Blanket Flowers and Hollyhocks on the south side of our house. Joy-Vernon

There are seven other feeders on this porch, with more in the back, so we don't have too much fighting & "guarding" going on. Joy-Vernon

Although the hummers are buzzing around, thick as thieves or bees, I still find a single one a marvel to see close up. 8-27-10 Joy-Vernon

Since we are at the height of Yellow Flower and Hummingbird Season, I thought I would send some photos in combining both with my photography. Joy-Vernon
