Yesterday, another gorgeous day! (April 27, 2010) Rick & I rode the ATV 3 miles to the BLM land where we used to climb the hills & hike for hours nearly every day. We are getting too old & it is hard for us now. Here is a "sighting" of 'Big Foot' (AKA Rick) wearing a back and a wrist brace as we climbed UP! Joy-Vernon

Turkeys In The Back Yard Of A Friend In Pine Haven Wyoming. Posted By: Tom Joad~Lakeside, AZ

f you enjoy birds as I do...buy an Oriole feeder like this one. We had to look hard for one last year. Finally found them at a Nursery on White Mountain Road in Pinetop/Lakeside. The formula is the same as for humming birds...one part sugar to 4 parts water. I took this photo today, April 29, 2010 of a male Bullock's Oriole. Joy-Vernon

Here is a male Scott's Oriole today, April 29, 2010. Both male & female Bullock's and Scott's Orioles were coming to the Oriole feeder on the porch today. Joy-Vernon

This Jay sat in the dead limbs of a tree in our yard...while a Townsend's Solitaire, and other birds sat next to it. A Bullock's Oriole is sitting up there in this photo. The dead limb on top of one of our Pinon trees is not very attractive, but the birds feel safe in the clearing, up high, so we will leave the almost dead limb for the birds. Joy-Vernon

Put your humming bird feeders out as they are back! They are using the Oriole feeder until I put their feeders out--just as the Oriole's will drink out of hummingbird feeders if that is all you have. This female hummer looks fat; like she is about to lay some eggs. Joy-Vernon

Thurs. night, April 29, 2010. Every night, Eastie, Westie & Darby have races across the lawn. Imagine our surprise tonight when we all discovered it had snowed! I thought they were hunting, (maybe for Chance the front yard chipmunk) when I took this photo, but Darby & Westie came in the house each one with a chew/bone they had buried in the garden flower bed.
