![]() There were many ducks, (I think most were Mallards), when I took this photo on November 13th at Bosque del Apache, New Mexico, but I was interested in capturing the reflections in the water. Joy-Vernon |
![]() Waves and waves of Snow Geese, Sandhill Cranes, Canada Geese and ducks fly over ones heads at the North end of Bosque del Apache at sunset in winter months when they return from feeding in the outlaying fields during the day. They are losing their V formations in this photo as they are getting ready to land to spend the night at Bosque del Apache wildlife refuge. There are an estimated 17,000 Sandhill cranes! 11-13-09 Joy-Vernon |

![]() It was a thrill to see a Steller Jay in our yard November 20, 2009...the first in six years. They are usually only found in coniferous forests. The Arizona species have a distinctive white streak above their eyes as this one has. Joy-Vernon |
![]() The Steller Jays are thought to mate for life, but this one was alone! Joy-Vernon |
