An American Avocet at Pintail Lake, walking in what little water the lake has in this drought. Mother's Day 2009-- Joy in Vernon	Jae's bird at the Hummingbird feeder was a Scott's Oriole. It eats insects, fruit and nectar (not bird seed). It is known to come to "nectar feeders". We have insects out here in Vernon, but no fruit and the few Orioles we have seen have not known to come to our humming bird feeders. The nectar they drink is the same recipe for Hummers...one part sugar to four parts water.
