Pinetop Lakeside Community Facilities


Pinetop Historic JailThe Pinetop-Lakeside area offers a broad range of community facilities including a health center, a library, three golf courses, a swimming pool, two indoor theaters, several tennis and racquetball courts. Woodland Park affords lighted baseball and softball fields, play areas, tennis courts, fishing, hiking and bicycle trails.
The new Mountain Meadows Recreation Complex has two new ball feilds and a world class Disc Golf Course

Communication

In addition to communication resources from the rest of the state, Pinetop-Lakeside has bi-weekly and weekly area newspapers, radio stations from Show Low, 207 television channels via cable from Phoenix, and four channels via antenna from Tucson.

Educational

There is one public elementary school, one public middle school, one public junior high school and one public high school. Private elementary schools are available in the area.

Northland Pioneer College, a nationally-accredited, state-supported community college, began serving Navajo County during the 1974-75 academic year. The College is decentralized and now offers classes in over 250 locations. Full-service degree-granting campuses are located in Winslow, Holbrook, Snowflake/Taylor and Show Low. Degree course work may also be completed at centers in Heber, Whiteriver and Keams Canyon. The district office is located in Holbrook. Areas of study include adult basic education, vocational, academic transfer and personal interest. For information call (800) 266-7845. Northern Arizona University, located within 60 miles, in cooperation with NPC, offers upper division and graduate courses at several Navajo County locations. Medical

Navapache Regional Medical Center has 54 beds and provides staff support including 41 physicians. The area also has six dentists, two optometrists, two orthodontist, two podiatrist, as well as chiropractic and dental clinics. Air ambulance service is available at NRMC and the Show Low Regional Airport to connect to medical facilities in Flagstaff, Tucson and Phoenix.

Financial

There are five financial institution branch offices in the community, with four additional branches in the area. The Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACOG) located in Flagstaff services this area with a Revolving Loan Program for new and existing businesses. Inquiries can be made through WMRDC, 1201 E. Cooley, Suite F, Show Low, AZ 85901. The Navajo County Industrial Development Authority handles information related to industrial development bonds; contact Navajo County IDBA, 819 W. Florida, Holbrook, AZ 86025. Additionally, Navajo County businesses are eligible for assistance in financing fixed assets through the Arizona Department of Commerce Finance Division.

Governmental

The community is governed by a mayor, six council members, a town manager and is served by a police department and a sheriff's department. Fire departments have full-time and volunteer personnel.

Airport

People in Pinetop-Lakeside have access to Show Low Municipal Airport with two paved runways (7,200-ft lighted, 4,000-ft unlighted), full taxi-ways, a new terminal and daily commuter service to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Phoenix.

Industrial Properties

The Town of Pinetop-Lakeside operates a new Commerce Park on Porter Mountain Road, one mile off state Highway 260. This facility offers 35+ acres of available light commercial sites with underground utilities and paved streets. Contact the White Mountain Regional Development Corporation.

Lodging & Meeting Facilities

There are approximately 69 lodging facilities which include motels, hotels, condos, cabins and bed-and-breakfast properties. There are approximately 14 RV and mobile home parks. A full-service convention center and resort is located just two miles south of the Town of Pinetop-Lakeside at the Hon Dah Casino and Convention Center.
