Route:

Drive 6 miles north of Alpine on U.S. 191 (formerly U.S. 666). Turn west on FR 56 and follow it up and around Terry Flat Loop and back to the highway. Total distance round trip from Alpine is 27 miles. Driving time is about 1 to 2 hours.

Notes:

Roads along this route are graveled and suitable for passenger cars except during periods of wet weather.

Best Season:

Spring and summer area good times to take this drive but fall is most spectacular.

Along this drive you'll enjoy great views high on the slopes of Arizona’s third highest mountain.
